Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to making Machakos a top investment destination, as the county continues to attract major industries that are transforming the local economy. With a rapidly expanding industrial base, Machakos is positioning itself as a hub for manufacturing and enterprise, offering both a strategic location and a welcoming environment for investors.

Governor Wavinya emphasized that her government will continue to provide the necessary infrastructure, policy support, and streamlined processes to encourage more companies to set up operations in the county.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Isuzu Industrial Complex at Lukenya, Athi River, Governor Wavinya celebrated the project as a major milestone not only for Machakos but also for the national economy. She was joined by Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, and Isuzu East Africa Managing Director, Madam Rita Kavashe, in officiating the ceremony. The event marked a strong public-private partnership that reflects investor confidence in Machakos.

The new facility, once completed, will focus on the assembly and distribution of high-quality automotive parts and components, reinforcing Isuzu’s position as a key player in Kenya’s automotive industry. Beyond enhancing Kenya’s industrial capabilities, the project is expected to create hundreds of jobs, improve the livelihoods of local residents, and boost supporting sectors such as transport, hospitality, and logistics.

Governor Wavinya stressed that the people of Machakos must be the primary beneficiaries of industrial growth. She reiterated that any investor coming into the county is legally and morally obligated to employ local residents, a policy that her administration is firmly enforcing. “Our goal is to grow together with our people,” she said, noting that industrial progress must translate into direct socio-economic benefits for the county’s population.

As the county continues to attract both local and international investors, Governor Wavinya declared with confidence: “Machakos is open for business, and it is clearly the best place to invest.” With her administration’s strong pro-business stance and focus on inclusive development, Machakos is steadily transforming into a model of county-led economic success in Kenya.
