Kitui County is steadily moving toward improved access to healthcare following renewed investments in medical infrastructure under the leadership of Julius Malombe.
The Governor has consistently maintained that every village in Kitui County will have a health facility to ensure residents receive quality and affordable healthcare services closer to their homes. In line with this promise, his administration successfully completed Kilimu Dispensary in Kithumula Kwa Mutonga Ward, a project that had stalled for several years before being revived and finalized.
The completion of Kilimu Dispensary marks a significant milestone in expanding grassroots healthcare access. For years, residents were forced to travel long distances to seek basic medical services. The operational facility is now expected to ease that burden and improve timely treatment, maternal care, and preventive health services within the community.
Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare systems across all wards as part of his broader countywide development agenda. He emphasized that accessible healthcare is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of social and economic development.
On her part, Ruth Koki, the County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation, announced that the county government is installing modern theatre equipment at Kauwi Level IV Hospital. The installation of the equipment is set to enhance surgical services, reduce referrals to distant facilities, and improve overall service delivery in the region.
With the completion of stalled dispensaries and the upgrading of key hospitals, the county leadership maintains that Kitui is firmly on track to achieving its vision of quality, accessible healthcare for every resident village by village.
