Learners at Kalwilaa Comprehensive School in Nuu Ward, Mwingi Central, are set to benefit from improved learning conditions following the completion of key infrastructure projects funded by Safaricom through the M-PESA Foundation. The initiative has delivered five new classrooms fitted with lockers, a modern administration block and a borehole within the school compound.

The projects were officially commissioned during a ceremony led by Safaricom’s Chief Corporate Security Officer Nicholas Mulila, who said the investment underscores the company’s commitment to expanding access to quality education in underserved areas. He noted that proper infrastructure plays a crucial role in improving academic performance and creating a safe, supportive environment for learners.

School administrators said the additional classrooms will ease congestion and enhance comfort, while the lockers will help learners safely store their books and personal belongings. The administration block provides adequate office space for teachers and staff, improving efficiency in school management. The borehole is expected to guarantee a reliable supply of clean water for drinking and sanitation, addressing a long-standing challenge in the area.

Mulila is also known for his philanthropic activities, particularly across Kitui County, where he has supported various community development initiatives. He has publicly expressed active interest in contesting the Kitui governorship in 2027, positioning himself as a leader keen on advancing education and social development within the county.
