Hundreds of residents from Ngomeni Ward on Wednesday turned up in large numbers to welcome Irene Kasalu as she officially kicked off her “Meet the People Tour” in Mwingi North Sub-County.
The residents gathered at various trading centres during the day-long engagements, where Kasalu interacted with wananchi and listened to their concerns on insecurity, water shortages, roads, unemployment and economic empowerment. The enthusiastic reception highlighted her growing political influence in the region ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race.
Speaking during the meetings, Kasalu said her mission was to connect directly with residents and understand the challenges affecting communities at the grassroots level. She noted that meaningful leadership begins with listening to the people and developing solutions based on their everyday realities.
The tour continues tomorrow, May 14, with visits to Campiu Town and Nthangani Town in Tharaka Ward before concluding on Friday, May 15, in Tseikuru Ward with meetings at Mulangoni, Kaningo, Musavani and Tseikuru Town. Her supporters have rallied behind the slogans “Tupange Kazi na Kasalu” and “Kasalu Kyeni Kya Aka, Uathimo Wa Andu Onthe.”
