National Economic Development Party leader Mike Mbuvi Sonko has suspended all party meetings until further notice, warning members against attending unauthorized gatherings being organized in his name.

In a statement dated May 22, 2026, Sonko said certain individuals and party officials were mobilizing members and aspirants without his approval, terming the meetings fake and unauthorized. He advised party supporters to stay away from such gatherings until the party’s internal structures and mechanisms are fully organized and ongoing internal disputes resolved.

The former Nairobi Governor also cautioned members against sending money to any till numbers, paybill accounts, or individuals claiming to collect funds on behalf of the party. Sonko stated that he was not aware of the collections and raised concerns over lack of accountability regarding money allegedly collected from aspirants and members.

He further urged those who had already sent money to demand immediate refunds, maintaining that the party does not support exploitation of members through unauthorized financial contributions. Sonko emphasized that all official communication concerning party activities and contributions would only be issued through proper party channels directly under his authority.
