The Kitui County Assembly is expected to approve the Kitui County Supplementary Budget Estimates II for the Financial Year 2025/2026 and the Kitui County Supplementary II Appropriation Bill, 2026 during special sittings scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The anticipated approval follows a unanimous resolution by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to hold additional sittings to facilitate consideration of the two critical financial documents before the close of the current financial year.
The motion for the additional sittings was approved during a plenary session chaired by Hon. Paul Maluki (MCA, Kithumula/Kwa Mutonga Ward), in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 27(3)(c). The House agreed to convene at 9:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. to deliberate on and approve the budget proposals.
Earlier, the Committee on Budget and Appropriations, chaired by Hon. Zacchaeus Syengo (MCA, Voo/Kyamatu Ward), tabled its report on the consideration of the Kitui County Supplementary Budget II. The report was laid before the House by Hon. Bonface Katula, who also gave notice of a motion for its consideration.
The approval of the supplementary budget and appropriation bill is expected to pave the way for adjustments in county spending and ensure smooth implementation of priority programmes and projects during the remaining period of the 2025/2026 financial year.
