Locals from Kalundu village are raising concerns over Kitui Township MCA Hon. Ngoima Kimanzi, accusing him of pushing for the appointment of a candidate from Mutito as their village administrator.
According to the disgruntled residents, it is unreasonable for someone from outside Kalundu to be considered for the position, especially when there are qualified individuals from the village itself.
The residents allege that MCA Ngoima is prioritizing people from outside the area to build a support base for the 2027 elections. They are particularly unhappy that only three candidates were interviewed for the position: one from Mutito, another from Mulutu, and the third from Kalundu.
Mulinge Kioko, a resident of Kalundu, pointed out that even the township ward administrator is from Kwa Vonza, while the MCA’s personal assistant hails from Mwingi North (Tseikuru) yet still works with them seamlessly. Despite this, the residents insist that the village administrator role should be filled by a local.
The locals are now appealing to Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe to intervene swiftly. They are adamant that if anyone from outside Kalundu is appointed, they will stage protests at the governor’s office, the Public Service Board (PSB), and the MCA’s office until their preferred candidate, Evans Kangata Susa, is approved.
Kyalo Peter, another resident, echoed these sentiments, stating that the community will not accept being shortchanged. “We cannot work with outsiders who do not understand our needs,” he said, warning that they are ready to resist any external imposition.
When contacted for comment, MCA Ngoima Kimanzi denied any involvement in the selection process, clarifying that it is the responsibility of the Kitui County Public Service Board to appoint village administrators.
He added that as an MCA, his roles are limited to legislation, oversight, and representation. He also noted that the township ward is a metropolitan area, which should be considered in the selection process.
The matter remains tense as residents continue to push for the appointment of a local candidate, warning of potential protests if their concerns are not addressed.
