In weeks of investigation across Kinanie/Mathatani Ward, the Hopkin Digital Media investigative team uncovered undeniable evidence that Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s development projects are transforming lives. Yet, in sharp contrast, the area MCA, Hon. Francis Wambua Kavyu, has been spotted in public rallies dismissing these projects, boldly claiming that “the governor has done totally nothing in his ward.” The facts on the ground, however, tell a very different story one that leaves Kavyu stripped bare as a propagandist trapped in denial.
From the start, it is evident that Governor Wavinya has prioritized road connectivity, opening major routes across Kinanie and Mathatani. These are not just roads they are economic arteries. They have cut travel time, opened markets for farmers, and made schools and hospitals more accessible. Boda boda riders now operate with greater ease, and traders can move their goods smoothly. This progress has effectively reduced MCA Kavyu to a spectator in his own backyard, loudly criticizing while residents quietly enjoy real change.
In Kinanie town, we confirmed the construction of two modern toilets and a borehole. Once, residents walked long distances or bought unsafe water from vendors. Today, clean, reliable water flows freely. One trader told us: “We no longer spend hours searching for water. Governor Wavinya has given us dignity.” For MCA Kavyu to label this “nothing” exposes a shocking level of disconnect from the people he claims to represent.
Healthcare is another major win At Kinanie Level 3 Hospital, Governor Wavinya’s administration is upgrading facilities to include a modern theatre and an X-ray unit. Residents who previously endured expensive referrals to Athi River or Machakos Level 5 hospitals will soon access surgeries and emergency services locally. Pregnant women, in particular, stand to benefit as the facility prepares to handle caesarean deliveries. Plans to elevate the hospital to Level IV show a clear trajectory of progress. This is not “nothing” it is life-saving investment.
At Kwa Mboo level II hospital, Governor Wavinya’s hand is evident once again. Fully operational with a maternity wing, the facility has become a health lifeline. A nurse in charge told our team: “We serve over 100 clients a month, including schoolchildren. Medicines are always available we have never run out of essential drugs.” These words alone dismantle Kavyu’s propaganda and underscore the governor’s commitment to healthcare.
In schools, boreholes have sparked an agricultural revolution. At Kwa Mboo and Kinanie primary schools, pupils now grow spinach, kale, dania, and maize using borehole water. The headteacher at Kya Mboo revealed: “Our pupils eat healthy lunches straight from our own farm. Their nutrition and concentration have improved. This is devolution at its best.” Parents and teachers alike testify that water has not only ended scarcity but also sparked sustainability.
Perhaps the most telling blow to Kavyu’s denial is in the socio-economic empowerment of women and youth. Governor Wavinya’s program distribution of chairs, tents, catering equipment, carwash machines, and support for table banking have lifted livelihoods. Women’s groups are saving and lending among themselves; youth are running businesses instead of idling. One women’s leader told us: “We feel seen and supported. Wavinya has given us the tools to build our own future.” These are tangible economic transformations, not illusions.
As our investigation closes in Kinanie/Mathatani, the evidence is clear MCA Kavyu’s propaganda has collapsed under the weight of visible development. He may eye the Mavoko MP seat, but his attempt to erase progress in his own ward exposes him as out of touch and out of ideas. If toilets, boreholes, hospitals, schools, farms, and empowered communities are “nothing,” then the people of Kinanie must ask: what does Kavyu call something?
