A Huge Blow to Waita and Makau as Wavinya Ndeti Tightens Grip

A new opinion poll by Mizani Africa has dealt a significant political blow to two key Machakos gubernatorial hopefuls Nzioka Waita and Patrick Makau after indicating a commanding lead for incumbent Governor Wavinya Ndeti ahead of the next election.

According to the survey findings, if the Machakos gubernatorial election were held today, Wavinya would secure a landslide victory with 64.4% of the vote. Her closest challenger, Waita, trails far behind at 17.5%, while Makau garners 13.2%, painting a picture of a race currently tilted heavily in favor of the incumbent.

The results underscore Wavinya’s growing dominance in Machakos politics, suggesting that her administration’s policies and development agenda have resonated strongly with the electorate. From infrastructure improvements to enhanced service delivery and increased bursary allocations, her leadership appears to have consolidated significant grassroots support.

For Waita and Makau, the poll presents a steep uphill task. Both leaders must now rethink their campaign strategies, strengthen their political bases, and craft compelling alternatives if they are to mount a serious challenge against the incumbent’s popularity wave.

Political analysts argue that while polls are only a snapshot in time, such a wide margin signals a deeply entrenched incumbency advantage that may prove difficult to overturn unless there are major political shifts on the ground.
