Former Cabinet Secretary for EAC, ASALS and regional development Hon. Peninah Malonza distributed 48 water tanks and 150 polypots to women and youth SACCOs in Kitui East Constituency. The launch event was held at Zombe Market, where waziri Malonza emphasized that the initiative aims to help families harvest rainwater during the anticipated October rains.
Hon. Malonza applauded the SACCOs in Kitui East for their excellent registration and active participation in the program, which led to the constituency receiving the highest allocation — 175 water tanks and 187 polypots — out of a county-wide distribution of 550 water tanks and 1,000 polypots.
Speaking at the event, she promised to increase the number of water tanks, citing the persistent water challenges in the region and growing community demand.
Residents expressed their gratitude for her continued support and pledged to back her gubernatorial bid in the upcoming elections.
In her address, Hon. Malonza also encouraged the youth to register as voters and take advantage of the Nyota Project, a national government initiative aimed at empowering young people. She further assured the community that the construction of the Chuluni–Kiongwe–Nzombe road is in the pipeline.
