Wavinya Ndeti today hosted the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Deborah Barasa, alongside the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) task team at her office in Machakos.

The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to assess ongoing projects funded under the FLLoCA programme, which are aimed at strengthening farmers along the agricultural value chain while addressing the growing impacts of climate change. County officials showcased key interventions designed to boost household incomes, enhance climate resilience and promote sustainable environmental conservation practices.

Among the highlighted initiatives were restoration and conservation efforts along Miu River and other rivers across Machakos County. The team commended the visible progress, noting that local farmers are increasingly leveraging the projects to improve water access, adopt climate-smart agriculture and build their adaptive capacity in the face of changing weather patterns.

Governor Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to maximizing climate financing opportunities to safeguard livelihoods and ensure long-term environmental sustainability in the county.
