Farmers in Mlolongo and the neighboring Syokimau area are set to benefit from the ongoing distribution of free certified seeds spearheaded by Wavinya Ndeti as part of efforts to boost food production in Machakos County.

The exercise is scheduled to take place tomorrow, March 6, 2026, at the Chief’s Camp in Mlolongo, where farmers will receive certified seeds ahead of the planting season. County officials say the initiative is part of a broader programme aimed at empowering smallholder farmers with quality farm inputs to enhance agricultural productivity.

The distribution forms part of a countywide agricultural support initiative targeting thousands of farmers across Machakos. By providing certified seeds, the county government hopes to increase crop yields, improve the quality of produce, and strengthen food security at the household level.

Governor Ndeti has maintained that agriculture remains a key pillar of the county’s economy and that supporting farmers with modern inputs and knowledge will play a crucial role in raising incomes and improving livelihoods across communities. Residents from Mlolongo, Syokimau and surrounding areas have been encouraged to attend the event and take advantage of the programme.
