Kitui County has received pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceuupplies worth KSh 48 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority to strengthen healthcare service delivery across the region.

The consignment, procured during the third quarter and delivered on Friday, March 6, 2026, is expected to replenish medicine stocks in hospitals, health centres and dispensaries across the county, ensuring continued availability of essential drugs and medical commodities.

The supplies were received by Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies Aggrey Kamba on behalf of the County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koki. Kamba said the county government remains committed to ensuring public health facilities are adequately stocked to guarantee residents access to quality healthcare services.

Speaking during the handover at Kitui County Referral Hospital, Medical Superintendent John Mungai confirmed that the Social Health Authority is currently functioning effectively for both inpatient and outpatient services, with key services such as X-ray diagnostics, renal care and cancer treatment already supported under the scheme. The supplies will now be distributed to health facilities across the county to support uninterrupted healthcare services.
