Kitui County has officially launched the Term One Secondary Schools County-Level Games in a colorful ceremony held at Kitui School.
The event was presided over by the County Chief Officer for Youth and Sports, Nason Kangalya, who declared the four-day tournament open and reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to nurturing talent among learners.

During the ceremony, Mr. Kangalya presented trophy awards sponsored by the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA). The trophies will be awarded to the top-performing teams at the conclusion of the games.
He noted that the county has invested in improving the quality of officiating by training teachers as referees to ensure professionalism and fairness throughout the competition.

“This is not just about competition, but about building discipline, teamwork and identifying talent that can represent Kitui at higher levels,” he said.
The games have drawn participation from secondary schools across the county, with winners set to proceed to the regional championships.

The tournament is scheduled to run for four days and will culminate in a closing ceremony on Saturday, where victorious teams will be crowned and presented with trophies.
