The Kitui County Ministry of Health and Sanitation has received 100 boxes of anti-snake venom at Kitui County Referral Hospital in a major boost aimed at improving emergency response to snakebite cases across the county. The consignment was donated by Nairobi Enterprises Ltd. and is expected to strengthen treatment services, especially in remote areas prone to snake attacks.

Speaking during the handover, the Chief Officer in charge of Drugs and Medical Supplies said the stock will be distributed and used to support patients after receiving first aid care at dispensaries and lower health facilities. He praised Nairobi Enterprises Ltd. for the timely donation, noting that the consignment includes Panaf doses designed to treat various snakebite cases reported within Kitui County.
The health official also urged residents to seek immediate medical attention after any snake encounter, warning against relying on traditional remedies that may worsen the situation. He further advised families living in dry areas to place water in basins outside their homes to help keep snakes away from houses, explaining that many reptiles enter homesteads while searching for water during hot weather conditions.

The county government reiterated its commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Kitui through improved medical supplies, equipped health facilities, and timely emergency response systems. County health officials said the latest donation forms part of broader efforts by the administration of Julius Malombe to strengthen healthcare services and ensure residents receive lifesaving treatment closer to their communities.
