Governor Julius Malombe’s administration has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to quality education by investing in conducive learning environments for children across Kitui County. The county government says it is prioritising the construction and renovation of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres, equipping classrooms, and enhancing childcare facilities to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, supportive, and child-friendly environment.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Malombe during the Kenya Comprehensive Schools Heads Association (KECSHA) Annual General Meeting, Pauline Mwania, the Chief Officer in charge of Basic Education, ECDE and Childcare Facilities, delivered the Governor’s speech, reaffirming the county’s commitment to strengthening the education sector. She said the county government recognises education as the foundation of social and economic development and will continue investing in infrastructure and programmes that improve learning outcomes across Kitui.
A renowned educationist and career teacher, Ms Mwania underscored the importance of collaboration between the county government, teachers, parents and education stakeholders in nurturing learners. Before joining the county government, she served for many years as the principal of Kyondoni Girls High School and Itoleka High School, earning a reputation for strong leadership and commitment to academic excellence. She noted that quality infrastructure, adequate learning resources and a conducive learning environment remain essential in giving every child the best start in life.
Ms Mwania also used the occasion to express her interest in vying for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election. She said her extensive experience in education and public service has equipped her with the leadership skills required to effectively represent the people of Kitui Central. She added that, if elected, she would champion the interests of teachers, promote quality education, and advocate for development initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents across the constituency.
